Bose-Hubbard triangular ladder in an artificial gauge field

We consider interacting bosonic particles on a two-leg triangular ladder in the presence of an artificial gauge field. employ density matrix renormalization group numerical simulations and analytical bosonization calculations to study rich phase diagram this system. show that interplay between frustration induced by lattice geometry interactions gives rise multiple chiral quantum phases. Phase transitions superfluid Mott-insulating states occur, which can have Meissner or vortex character. Furthermore, state explicitly breaks symmetry two legs ladder, biased superfluid, is found for values flux close $\ensuremath{\pi}$. In regime hard-core bosons, we extension bond order insulator beyond case fully frustrated exhibits Meissner-type currents. discuss consequences our findings experiments cold atomic systems.
